Computer Aided Design & Fabrication

Date

December 2023

Project type

Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD Design/CNC Mill Fabrication

The goal of this project was to compete with other teams to design and fabricate the most impressive engineering-themed sign using twelve wooden blocks. The blocks were designed in Autodesk Fusion 360. I was responsible for the design of the MSU Engineering building that stretched across multiple blocks. Once the CAD design was complete, each block was separated and tool paths for four different milling tools were modeled. The G-codes for the CNC mill were then transferred to the device, which was zeroed and prepped for fabrication. I was responsible for building and extracting the G-code for one block and for performing cuts on two blocks. When all twelve blocks were successfully formed by the mill, they were glued together to form the completed sign.
